Kay Borchelt, born in 1959, is
the founding Managing Director of GTG.
After completing his apprenticeship and master qualification as a motor mechanic, Borchelt studied mechanical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven, obtaining his degree in 1994. He joined EWE in the same year to work on landfill gas plants and combined heat and power plants. He was also responsible for heat contracting here, until two years later he became the construction and operations engineer for gas in Leer.
From 2002, he held several management positions for EWE in Poland, including those of Managing Director of MOW (Media Orda Warta Sp. z o. o.), Managing Director of EWE Zielona Energia and board member for technology at EWE Polska. Following his stint in Poland, Borchelt became head of the western Lower Saxony network area at EWE NETZ GmbH in 2009, where he was responsible for some 600 employees. In November 2011, Borchelt was appointed to spin out the transmission system operator GTG from EWE NETZ GmbH.
